About Rama

Chapter 21 - Starting Out

I pulled my loaded pickup into the parking lot at Point Dume, my favorite beach in Malibu.  I often came here to meditate.  I knew that Rama lived in Malibu, but I didn't know where.

But I did like this beach.  There is a large rock at the end of the beach and I liked to climb onto some of the small outcroppings that jutted out toward the sea.  Here I would meditate and contemplate and just plain sort things out.

A couple of months before I had been unexpectedly asked to leave my study with Rama.  Now I had accepted a position as a minister in Grants Pass, Oregon.  That's why my old Ford pickup was loaded and that's why I was here.

I was leaving California, my Teacher and a way of life and awareness that few people could ever fathom.  It was time to move ahead into whatever life had in store for me.

I came here to Malibu to say good-bye.  It was a little cold and the sunset was beautiful.  I sat and thought about Rama, my experiences with him and how this past year had impacted me.  It was astonishing to look at what had happened!

I said good-bye to all that had happened and my old way of life.  Then I thought about Rama.  I inwardly apologized for any hurt or trouble I may have caused him.  I trusted his judgment and knew that one day I would see why I was having to take this path.  I wished him well and thanked him.

I set out on the adventure of my new life.
