About Rama

Chapter 13 - The Ebell Theater

I stood in the lobby of the Ebell Theater.  I always liked this place.  It was an old theater that was built back in the early part of the century with large winding stairs and decorated elegantly.

Rama always tried to hold our meetings in beautiful places.  The meeting halls had this special glow when we met.

As I stood on the stairway looking into the lobby taking in the beauty, a member of Rama's inner circle came up to me.

I say inner circle because there was a select group of people around Rama who helped set up and organize the student meetings.  I never was part of the inner circle during my entire time with Rama. I always hoped that I would someday be able to help in setting up or assisting in some way.

"Hi!  My name is David.  I saw you over here and thought I would come over and introduce myself."

I was taken aback.  Here I was actually talking to a student who associated with Rama in ways that I only dreamed of and I really didn't know what to say.

"Hi!" I answered trying to appear cool.  "My, this is a beautiful building."

We stood there in silence looking it over.  It seemed like a nice moment, but I was eager to impress him.

"I used to be a minister in Beverly Hills and I held my services in this theater every Sunday," I said.

He looked at me, let out a quick breath, shook his head and walked away.

I got it!  No wonder I wasn't allowed to take part in the inner circle activities.  My ego was so immense that it just couldn't wait to run wild.  I sure felt like a complete ass.

David was a great teacher to me that evening.
