About Rama

Chapter 19 - Disneyland

Anyone who has ever gone to Disneyland with two wide-eyed, six and eight year old boys can fully understand how magical Disneyland can really be!  I was delighted in looking at this wonderland through their eyes.  Chad insisted on carrying his "Snoopy" and his younger brother, Lonnie, had to have "Clyde" (a funny stuffed vulture). I don't think I have ever enjoyed the day as much as I did that one.  Each section to the theme park we went into, I would watch my boys transform into the dream.  Amazingly, I had just as much energy as they did.

Only one thing.  All during the day, I never once saw Rama.  I could feel him, but our paths did not cross.  Finally it was time to go.  As I started walking out.  I felt certain that we would meet Rama at the exit gate.  Somehow I felt that we had met each other at the exit gate many times at the end of my lives.

Sure enough, there he stood with a few friends.  My sons and I went over to Rama and he bent down and looked at each boy.  He asked each one about their time at Disneyland.  Their eyes sparkled as they described their adventures.  Finally he asked them about their stuffed animals.  Reluctantly they each gave him their most prized possession.  He held each animal and them smiled as he handed them back.  Both boys grinned and we said good-bye.

What a day!

As a footnote to this story.  Both of my sons, now fully grown and living on their own,  still have those stuffed toys.  It is a reminder of a day in a magical kingdom with an Enlightened Teacher.
