Picture of the Beach at Sunset

Saturday, April 18, 1998

On these dates, my friend Cheryl and I paid a visit to the rocks at Point Dune. A place frequently visited by Rama when he used to live in the Malibu area. This was one of his favorite spots in the whole world, because it is very easy to see vortex of energy opening at sunset.

When we climbed up the rocks, and reached the top of Point Dune about 25 minutes before the sunset. I was carrying a small tape player and a copy of "Enlightenment" by Zazen. We meditated for about 20 minutes. It was a nice relaxing meditation. Then I stood up and said to Cheryl: "Get ready the vortex is about to open." I sat down again, and had one of the most powerful meditations I had ever experience. I was looking into the sun when it was reaching the ocean, and I saw the figure of Rama standing tall in the sunset. He was happy. He was finally free from his physical body. He smiled at me, and pulled my third eye out to him. I felt like if he was pulling and stretching the bands of perception around my head. He pulled an energy line from my third eye, wrapped it around his body, and plugged it into his third eye. At that point, my body and soul were completely filled with his energy. He transmuted a great deal of his consciousness into mine. What I felt at that moment was indescribable. I felt a sweet, awesome, powerful, rushing river of energy coursing through me. It was as though I was wrapped in a blanket of clear light. I was overwhelmed by his presence. I felt total peace, and yet I exploded with ecstasy.

After our meditation I felt completely energized and transformed. We went to have dinner at a small Mexican restaurant that Rama used to frequent in Malibu. While we were eating, we were laughing outloud, like if we just gotten out of a seminar. I was a wonderful feeling.

Monday, April 20, 1998

On Monday night, we decided to go back to the rocks and meditate at sunset again. This time the energy was very different. There was a solemn feeling in the air. This was a serious time to say good bye to the physical body that enveloped Rama for 48 years. We could feel the sadness of his students, and the sincere feeling of loss. After all, Rama was the best Enlightened Teacher this world has ever seen.

A few years ago in Tarrytown, Rama initiated me as a Buddhist monk. A few months later, he had a seminar where he was talking about career development, and how all of us should be in the computer field or leave the group. I spoke with him after the seminar, because I was not interested in pursuing computers as a career. He said to me; "You should be a writer and a teacher, and keep computers as a very strong hobby." Today I am a Database Analyst, I teach meditation seminars on a weekly basis, and I am currently finishing my third book. I thank Rama everyday for everything that he taught me. I will keep on teaching and meditating in his honor for the rest of my life.
