The vacation seemed distant as I placed my teacher’s
editions of Social Studies, English, Math, and Science on
my desk. I fought the urge to lock the door and keep out
the dismayed faces that would soon file through the
threshold. They would look at me with accusation. I was,
afterall, the human symbol of forced academic
incarceration.

However, I smiled at the students who grumbled in and
out of the doors during the course of the day. Some shared
